Afternoon tea at Aqua Shard

On occasion I quite like acting like a total fancy pants. While I was in London, we decided that I had to experience a proper afternoon tea. Seeing as we had dinner there the previous year and knew that their food was amazing, we decided that The Aqua Shard was the place to go. With breathtaking views and cute barmen all around you can’t help but have a good time.

Their executive chef Dale Osborne is an absolute legend. He’s been in the industry since he was 16, so you can imagine that he makes the most amazing food. Here’s a link to their site.

They have quite a selection of teas that you can choose from but I had Rooibos tea (I know, I know, traveling thousands of kilometers in search of lekker things to eat and drink, but I stuck with what I knew) Obviously we’re used to teabags and not teacup strainers, I forgot to place the strainer over the teacup. After I giggled for a while the waiter brought me a new teacup. I assumed that things like that happened quite ofter because there was a tray of empty teacups on the main table. (Well that’s what I keep telling myself to feel less stupid)

I was watching Olls to make sure my pinky finger was tilted upwards at the perfect angle, he’s a pro as you can see. We had such a great time, I’m definitely taking Bee there when we go back to the UK next year.

DID YOU KNOW
(Because I did not)
The Shard is one of the tallest buildings in the UK it has 95 floors and is 306m high, 310m to the tip. We have architect Renzo Piano to thank for designing the beautiful building and it cost 435 million pounds to build.

So if you ever find yourself in London, be sure to pop in and treat your taste buds.
